Acupressure massage has been around for more than 500 years, and it was originated from China. Acupressure massages are considered to be an ancient Chinese traditional way of healing the mind and body. It is said that this massage was discovered based on theories of qi (chi) which means “breath”. Metaphorically, it refers that every living thing carries a force or energetic flow within their bodies that may cause blockage. Therefore, manual pressures are used in these massages to help stimulate specific points known as acupoints on the body for pain relief and to ease tension temporarily.

Acupressure massages can be done by yourself especially on the reachable areas of the acupoints. There are over 400 acupoints (jingmai) and 12 meridians in your body. These meridians are known as the yin (negative) & yang (positive) energy. Some of the main acupoints which can be focused on are Joining The Valley (LI-4), Third Eye (GV 24.5), Commanding Middle (B 54), and Celestial Pillar (B 10).
